In Canada, Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA people are murdered, abused, or disappear at shockingly high rates. The red dress is a symbol of each Indigenous life lost or missing due to systemic violence in Canada resulting from colonialism and residential schools.This event is a resource fair and art installation to educate UoG community on the national crisis, direct them to support Indigenous initiatives and create lasting motivation to incorporate Indigenization in their work and education. We aim to direct students’ and faculties’ support towards indigenous organizations promoted in the zines. We also aim to pay respects to communities being affected by this national crisis.
