Digging Deeper into Scottish Family HistorySaturday, October 24, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Main Library, 100 Norfolk St

This workshop will introduce a range of sources which can be used to explore family history in Scottish records, starting with the main Scotland's People records, including births, marriages, deaths and census records, and then exploring the potential of other records such as wills and testaments, valuation rolls, sasines and records held in local archives. The distinctive Scots legal, administrative, judicial and cultural context which generated these records will be discussed, and there will be opportunities to try out some of the online portals and support available, such as the knowledge base of the ‘Your Scottish Archives’ portal.
